I have a FX-6200 Black edition CPU that is not working. I have narrowed it down to it(switched every computer part even buying a new motherboard) The two motherboards I tried the CPU on were a ASROCK 990FX Killer and a ASUS 970 PRO Gaming/Aura. when in the ASROCK the computer would turn on, fans would spin, internal lights were lit, but there was no video. Couldn't even see the boot screen, no BIOS beep code(I didn't even know what that was). but in the ASUS when I turned on it do as mentioned above, but only for several seconds then seemingly restarts and repeat that process forever.but still had the same problem. I tried getting help at the AMD Forums, but they seemingly have just stopped replying. While I am planning on getting a new FX-8370 or a FX-8350 in the next week, it would be nice if I could get this one working if possible. And the last bit of info I have is it may have been overheating when it started doing this, but I don't remember, it stopped working several years ago now.

Solution

Yes, that is a very real possibility.

Yeah wasn't sure if I had to say everything I said over on the AMD Forums but the spec for the current setup are:
Corsair CX 500
Kingston 4GB RAM x2
GTX 550 Ti Dual SLI(I have 4 of them 2 of which are currently in other PCs)
and the case is a Apevia X-Dreamer II that is missing the front USB port(was breaking anything plugged into it) and the clear section of it's front panel

Good news, the new CPU(got the 8370) came and I tried it on the ASUS. It works, once I get all the PC supplies back home I'll try the ASROCK with a AMD dual core my father found recently. Also another old memory about the life of this PC came back to life; I now remember one day sparks flying out of the back side of the PC and we had to replace the PSU. Me and my father now believe that when that happened it damaged the CPU, not breaking it but dramatically decreasing it lifetime. Is that a possibility?
