Been a long time tomshardware reader. It's been awhile since I kept up with what's been going on in the pc world and can use some advice on a build. Last time I kept up with things was around when piledriver came out.

*The budget for the PC is around $1350 while the budget for a 4k monitor is approx $500. Mini-itx is desired.

*Would love to get Ryzen but mini-itx support seems to always be a problem with AMD. Skipping out on overclocking because after the price of a heatsink, i5-k processor, and motherboard cost I rather just get a non-k i7. The additional heat is also of concern with these smaller cases.

*As far as a video card goes sticking with a blower type 1080 seems best to minimize heat within these small itx cases.

*Guess the things I have really no clue about is whether or not the ssd, motherboard, ram, monitor, and psu selection is any good or not. Feel free to optimize and change anything to try and squeeze some more performance out of this build.

*I might have a chance to stop by a microcenter to pickup the processor to save a little money. They unfortunately do not seem to have a great mini-itx selection.

Solution
Microcenter underprices the CPUs but overprices everything else to get you in the store, so if you do buy your CPU at microcenter, only buy the CPU there.

Solution

The higher clockrates, the 7700 is only $10 less at microcenter. Also from my experience with the CM elite 130, you'd want an aftermarket cooler on an i7 even if it wasn't a k version, so you might as well do both. The more expensive mini-itx Z boards won't help much as you really can't OC that great on the mini-itx either, so just run the 7700k at it's naturally higher clocks.
