I know exactly what you are referring to. I had a wireless one from Logitech several years ago for my PS3 & PS4. This is the current model for that:

https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Wireless-Keyboard-Desktop-Glossy/dp/B007PJ4PN2/ref=pd_sbs_147_5?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B007PJ4PN2&pd_rd_r=J6HXN1VNSHX5SAXGV4M8&pd_rd_w=OFstp&pd_rd_wg=JKxZx&psc=1&refRID=J6HXN1VNSHX5SAXGV4M8

I was able to find this one made by HP (and I love the HP keys on my G7 Pavilion laptop).

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005HNHRA6/ref=psdc_12879431_t2_B007PJ4PN2

^^Both have excellent reviews. The Logitech is a little smaller form factor. Not sure of their compatibility with Linux but I can't imagine them not working with open source drivers out there for Linux.

Laptops generally use scissor switches and chiclet keys. Logitech are pretty reliable, so the K740 should be a safe bet if you like that sort of thing. They have others too, mostly on the thin side.

You could also try the Tesoro Gram Spectrum for a low profile, reduced travel, RGB keyboard that also has mechanical switches.

Or the Cherry Mx Board 3.0 for low profile mechanical with longer travel and without backlighting.
