Hey all, i just made this account to ask you guys about this. So my problem is i'm a little anxious over my loyal PSU not being enough to handle the newest upgrade on my build. I finally got enough money to buy a GTX 1060 6GB OC GALAX vcard and upgrade from my 660 OC card, the thing is i want to know if the PSU i brought back at the end of 2013 with my i7 still holding it. I can't make any tests because i don't have the equipment to do so but the PSU has not made any weird noise this far, it still using the fans only when heavy load and my case is well cooled so heat is not a problem per se. I plan to retire it after june when i'll have enough money for a CX650 but until there i'm stuck on this.

The system is a i7 3770 3.4 @ with 16 GB RAM and the new 1060 6GB OC GALAX GTX card. Can my loyal and old PSU handle it?

Solution
That PSU probably has another 5 or 6 years in it at the very least, I'm using an 11 year old 620w PSU to run a pair of 970's which is a fair bit more than a single 1060 requires.

Agree with Mousemonkey, but would add - don't dump the TX850 you have for a CX650. It's not the wattage to
be concerned with, but the CX series is a step or 2 down from the TX (although discontinued) series, depending on
which tx850 you have.
