I upgraded my computer and have an old samsung 840 pro that I want to erase and use as a external SSD (just for storage). I already placed it in an enclosure and connected to my current computer via usb 3.0. Current version of samsung magician is not allowing me to secure erase and says its not supported (magician 5.0). Whats the quickest and easiest way to erase everything so that I can just use it as a backup drive.

This old SSD also used to contain the previous OS on it. I just want to be able to start with a clean drive so I can just drag and drop files into it. Would a windows format be sufficient (and safe) for the drive? I feel like samsung has abandoned providing any software for this ssd already.

Thank you.
