Hey guys,

For a while now I have a problem with my internet connection.

It keeps disconnecting and reconnecting. Sometimes a couple of times each minute. It has become very bothersome. Since I lose internet for a couple of seconds and then it pops back on.

I live in an apartment complex that provides the internet. So I don't have a modem. I do have a router, so I can hook up multiple devices to the internet and have WiFi.

But I'm the only one in the complex who has this dropping of connection.

It doesn't matter if I'm on the wifi or on the cable, the internet connection gets interupted just as much.

I have tried buying a new router, expecting the one I have may have been faulty. But the problem persists.

The problem is also not in my PC, since the problem occurs on my phone, 2 of my laptops and my PC.

I have a server connected to the router as wel. A Synology. And I also have a printer (HP) connected to the WiFi.

I have updated all the drivers and firmware on these devices as well.

But I'm at the end of my wits now. I seriously don't have a clue on what I could try next to fix this problem.

Is there anybody here that has a suggestion of something I could try next?
All help would be greatly appriciated, cause I seriously don't have an idea left.

Thanks!
Roeland

Solution
Hi Roeland. That sounds really annoying, hope someone here manages to fix it for you.

The first step, I would say, is to minimize the steps. When you say "the cable" what do you mean, do you have an ethernet connection coming to your apartment? Or is it coax or something else?

If you can, get rid of the router for testing purposes - it sounds like you might already have done this. Does your apartment building give you a 192.168 address (or 117.16 or 10.0 etc)?

If you know nobody else has the problem, that suggests you know your neighbours - do you know if you can ping a router or PC in a neighbour's apartment?

With your PC connected straight in to the wall, how often does the connection drop (just so I know how easy it is to test!)...

In other words, is it one of these:

PC ----- Apartment block modem ---<problem>--- Internet

PC ---<problem>--- Apartment block modem ----- Internet

Any more info might help. Hope a solution finds its way to you soon!
