WIn10 WD 2TB drive problem

Hi, I managed to installed Windows in a new drive (clean install) when booting from installation disk however bios cannot detect the drive and hence cannot load Windows although the installation is successful.

I tried docking the drive on other PC and it has the same issue bios cannot detect drive.

my setup:
Asus Gryphon Z87
Intel i7
Windows 10 Pro
WD blue 2T

How did you manage to install windows on the drive, if bios can't detect it?
Doesn't sound right.

Please post screenshots of errors you're getting and BIOS screen (where your hdd is not detected).

I installed the windows using DVD, window installation can detect the drive (I didn't check bios prior installation). Once the installation done and I try to boot from the disk nothing happen.

No error per se because it just directly directed me back to bios. The disk can be detected in Windows when I docked it on another PC.

Didn't see boot mode screen there.
It's under Advanced Mode/Boot/CSM and Advanced Mode/Boot/Secure Boot.

In Boot/Secure Boot - set OS type to other OS and try booting up.

Tried that still cannot boot, get directed back to bios.

Ok. Then try changing boot mode to legacy.
Boot\CSM\Boot Device Control - set to Legacy OpRom only.
Don't forget to save after changing settings.

If it still doesn't boot, then reinstall windows in this mode.

You have to clean the drive before installing windows onto it.
Boot from windows installation media;
go to command prompt and execute:

diskpart
list disk
select disk x (x - number of your disk, should be 0, but make sure it's the right one)
clean
exit

And relaunch windows installation.

Do you have multiple drives connected?
Post output of those commands:

diskpart
list disk
select disk 0
list partition

Only one drive, no partition.

This is peculiar.
Is the 2TB drive connected by some usb adapter or something?

BTW - what happens if you disconnect dvd drive and connect 2tb hdd to same sata port, where dvd drive was?
Is 2tb drive being detected in bios then?

No adapter. The weird thing is if i connect my other drive with Windows (this drive is failing but windows can still boot) it can detect just fine.

I swapped around the cables and tested on different ports still the same problems.

Well - if drive is failing, then replace it. Not much of a choice there.
