Hi,

What are the main factors of having a high-speed local network?

My store has 15 cameras (hike vision) connected to a hike vision DVR through ethernet cable

(DVR Model: DS-7716NI-E4)
DVR: http://overseas.hikvision.com/en/Products_accessries_21...
software: v3.4.2build 160205

Our connection to DVR is through ethernet cable: Belden data cat 6

the client I'm using is:

iVMS-4200
version: v1.02.03.02

But when I try to playback cameras, If I select more than 3 cameras, my CPU usage will become 100%

Every camera I chose uses around 20% of CPU, which is not normal,

The device that I use to view cameras:
iMac (27-inch, Mid 2011)
Processor: 3.1 GHz Intel Core i5
Memory: 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
HDD: 256 GB Samsung 850 PRO SSD

Any help is much appreciated,

Thanks,

I don't know about your stuff. The system my brother uses is running blueiris dvr stuff. It has no issues playing back 4 cameras but he also is not changing the resolution. They are save at 1080 and he plays them in 4 windows on on a 4k monitor. He is using a newer cpu I5 that has video accelerators on the chip so that is different. It runs the cpu only at 20%. Maybe you get a better answer on ipcamtalk forums. Those guys know a lot about the cameras and the storage systems.
I am going to suspect your problem is a software issue and not a network issue. If you were using a PC rather than a mac product I could tell you how to see how much traffic you were actually getting on the machine.

These cameras send a compressed data stream. The size greatly depends on many factors but even the new 5mpixel hikvision have a top limit on their rate of 16mbit/sec it should be far less than that on average. This means even if your mac only has 10/100 ports you should be able to run 5 with no issues. If you have gigbit ports you should be able to run all of them.

My guess is you are doing something like changing the video encoding or resolution. This takes a lot of cpu power but I know nothing of the software you are using.

I'm using this software to view cameras:

iVMS-4200
version: v1.02.03.02

But I also have a powerful windows computer, I tried that also, But I had the same problem,

All I do is: I open the software, I go to playback section, Select 4 cameras, then I click at the timeline (1pm for example),
The my cpu usage becomes 100% and the videos will stop playing...

What's your suggest for windows pc?

My windows pc is:

16GB RAM
SSD
4770 CPU
