I have a notebook (Asus ROG G751JT) and just today when I skyped with my friend he said he completely couldn't hear me because all he heard from my mic was an extremely loud static noise. The mic that I use is internal and has been the only mic I've used since the first day I got my laptop.Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

Assuming you have Windows:

-Search for "Sound" in Windows and open
-In the Recording tab, right click your Microphone device and click "properties"
(Test to see if you hear the static, and verify it was your mic, not his speakers) -Go to "Listen" tab and check the "Listen to this device" box. Apply. Can you hear static?

If yes, proceed.

-In the "Levels" tab, is there a "Microphone Boost" option?
-Assuming there is, lower than boost to nothing

Do you still hear a loud static?

Yes I tried that and yes I can hear the loud static. When I went to levels there was absolutely no microphone boost so that probably isn't the issue

I'm trying to do a bit of research, but your model name isn't coming up very much/at all. Are you sure it's G71JT and not G751JT?

Have you tried uninstalling the audio drivers via control panel, rebooting, and installing the new ones? Are you still on Windows 8.1 or did you update to 10?

If still on 8.1 use Version V6.0.1.7432

If you updated to 10, use Version V6.0.1.7576
