Hello,

I recently built a new computer and it seems to be working really well. My CPU idles at around 27-30 degrees Celsius and have done a few prime95 tests (only for about 5 minutes each with pump on 'quiet' mode and pump fans on 'default'). My CPU temps during prime95 tests hit about 70 degrees Celsius at the start and eventually start climbing to about 75-78 degrees Celsius. The only game I have played so far is PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS. My CPU utilisation when running the game is around 40% and the CPU temp sits at about 50-55 degrees Celsius.

I am happy with my idle temp and my game temp seems fine (I think?) but I am slightly concerned about my 100% load temps on prime95. I was hoping for it to be a bit cooler.

I am using Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut thermal paste and my CPU is not overclocked (apart from it turboing to 4.5 Ghz).

My H100i v2 is plugged into the AIO_PUMP header on my Asus Z270F and the pump fans are connected to the pump.

Any ideas if these temps are normal or what I could do to bring them down under load as I feel that they should be a bit lower with a AIO cooler.

Thanks!

Putting the pump into 'performance' mode and the pump fans on 'max' (100% fan speed) should give better cooling but it literally makes a few degrees difference with a lot more noise.

I just ran a 5 minute prime95 (small FFTs) test with no other programs running in the background. With the pump on performance mode and the pump fans set to max I was sitting steady at 75 degrees Celsius.

I ran another prime95 test with the pump on quiet mode and the fans on default (which is the same as quiet looking at the fan curve) and it was ticking back and forth between 77-78 degrees Celsius.

I can feel with my hand a lot of air getting sucked in from the front of my case and a lot of slightly warmer air getting thrown out the top (will be the rear as well).

As it is my first time building a PC, I am just wondering if my cooler is making proper contact with the thermal paste/CPU. it's screwed down quite tightly (not loads) and seems sturdy. Hmmmmm...

(My case is a NZXT S340 Elite for your information)

I have just taken a look at the cooler. Thermal paste is applied nicely and is covering the cpu and the cooling plate thing on the cooler and I have tightened it down again. I have plugged the cooler into the CPU_FAN header to see if it makes any difference but it doesn't make any difference to the CPU temps.

The only thing I have noticed is that I have been running the 'Small FFTs' which as mentioned makes my CPU temps go to 70-78 degrees Celsius on a 5 minute test and this is 100% load. I have seen a lot of people run the 'Blender' test which again puts my CPU to 100% load but the temps are significantly lower at around 58 degrees Celsius.

If my CPU is at 100% load on both how come one if significantly hotter than the other? Maybe this is the test I am mean to be running? If so, I am happy with my temps (I think? hahaha).

Yeah. Most people I've seen using prime95 are using the 'Blend' test. When I do that test I sit at like 58c which is quite good. It's just strange that eventhough Blend is 100% load, when I run small FFTs which is also 100% load, the temps go crazy.
