Cisco ASA5505 bottlenecking internet speeds

So we have a Cisco ASA 5505 set up and we were running 50/50 down and up and we recently upgraded to 200/200 but the cisco asa is bottle necking the speeds to 100/100. I am pretty sure that is the maximum speed the cicso asa 5505 can handle. I have looked at newer cicso asa's and just don't really know what to go with. Does anyone have any advice on what to replace this with?? Or if anyone knows how to get full speeds through the cisco asa 5505 that would be awesome (probably impossible).

Thanks in advance!

While I can't recommend any models from experience, I can say that you are correct in assuming your current ASA is running max at 100 Mbps. You will need a 1 Gbps (also listed as 10/100/1000) to take advantage of your full bandwidth. That also allows future expansion of bandwidth to 1000/1000.

As kanewolf points out cisco has great charts that show performance. If you look the speed you get is dependent on what you are doing. Things like vpn throughput is much different that simple firewall filters.

This is the key difference between a commercial firewall and other things you find. These large manufactures have charts that show details about throughput unlike the $100 consumer box that will claim gigabit speed based on the port speed.

Juniper and palo alto make great firewall devices also. Likely more but these I have more experience with. You would need to look at their performance charts to see exactly which model will meet your needs.

I suspect though that you will be best served by another ASA box mostly because you are familiar with the configuration and don't need to learn a new companies system.
