First here is my setup

EVGA GTX 1080

ASROCK Z97 EXTREME 6

Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4690K CPU @ 3.50GHz, (Super Stable OCd to 4.1)

Samsung SSD 840 EVO 250GB
ST2000DX001-1CM164 [Hard drive] (2000.40 GB)

ROG PG348Q-8

EVGA 850W PSU

16GB Ram

Its solid and I have no complaints just starting to plan my next upgrade. Considering upgrading my CPU. Any suggestions or should I wait a bit and upgrade my MOBO and CPU? Also GTX 1080ti vs 1080? I am thinking it wouldn't be worth it. Does my 4690 bottleneck my GPU at all? Just looking at upgrading my weakest link. Any thoughts would be awesome. Thank you

The 1080 ti will give you a boost even with your i5

The i7 7700K is a monster gaming CPU , my nephew is playing stable @ 5.1 ghz using Corsair H100i V2

If you want to upgrade the CPU , upgrade to i7 7700K ... dont waste on older chips.

But this will be expensive , you will need DDR4 Oced memory as well , new motherboard , etc

Thats why I said it is better to get the GTX 1080 ti first .. then later maybe you upgrade your whole System.

Good call I have looked into the m2s before but i forgot all about it. I don't have a single issue but I like to upgrade while my used parts are still worth a good chunk of what I paid for (thanks ebay). I have one of the best gpus out there and I would hate to have all that money in it just to have my cpu be a weak spot.

the GTX 1080 ti will give you better fps on your 3440x1440 monitor. Thats the only upgrade that you can do right now ... The CPU is good enough .
if you want smooth >60 fps in all games

here is a comparison
