I just built my first PC and after monitoring the temps., I realized they are way higher than it should be. It runs about 44-47 C in idle and up to 60 C for normal use. I'm running an AMD A6-5400k with gigabyte GA‑F2A68HM‑H FM2+ mobo. I'm using the stock heatsink/cooler. I thought it wasn't making good contact so I took out the heatsink, put new thermal paste and put it back. It only got worse. Any suggestions on what I can do to lower CPU temperature? Thanks.

Solution
If you took the stock cooler off and re-applied new thermal paste and it got worse, by any chance, do you think you might have put too much thermal paste on this second time? Thinking that would help cool it? if so, remove the stock cooler, clean off the thermal paste with alcohol, and re-apply a thin, thin, thin coat of new thermal paste and see what if it goes back to the temps you first had.
