So I built my first PC about a year ago and it mainly collected dust as I wasn't quite ready to leave console behind. Although, I've learned slowly at first, PC Master Race is an ongoing joke for a good reason. Everything runs so much smoother, quicker, and more satisfying really. Anyways, onto the important stuff. So my PC is as follows:

  • Windows 10 Home - 64-bit - OEM

Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case with Upgraded USB 3.0

    CORSAIR Dominator Platinum 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory Model

    AMD FD8350FRHKBOX FX-8350 FX-Series 8-Core Black Edition Processor

Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120mm PWM Fan (RR-212E-20PK-R2)

    XFX RADEON Double D R9 280X 1000MHz BOOST Ready 3GB DDR5 2XmDP HDMI 2XDVI Graphics Cards R9-280X-TDFD

    ASUS TUF SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 Socket AM3+ DDR3 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 AMD 990FX ATX Motherboard

    Transcend 256GB MLC SATA III 6Gb/s 2.5" Solid State Drive 370 (TS256GSSD370S)

EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2 80+ GOLD, 750W ECO Mode Fully Modular NVIDIA SLI and Crossfire Ready 10 Year Warranty Power Supply 220-G2-0750-XR

BenQ ZOWIE [New] 27-Inch QHD 2560x1440 LED 144Hz Quad HD Gaming Monitor with S-Switch, XL-Series for eSports Tournaments and Professional Players (XL2730)

I'm looking for some suggestions on what softare to download for monitoring relative information to monitor while gaming, recording gameplay, and testing stability. Also, given the build, what temperature is ideal? When running Overwatch I use the in-game CPU Temp Monitoring and it reads 63-68C which I believe is pretty hot for a CPU. I've tried blowing out all of the dust with dust-off and reapplying thermal paste after watching 7 youtube videos on the "best application method" and learned that it really doesn't make all that difference that I would have expected it to. I've also rewired my computer twice and moved the fans up, one blowing directly at the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO. Originally I had the CMH212 EVO facing down, towards the graphics card, and it was getting a 59-64C reading in Overwatch, but as per what videos I have watched recommended, I spun it facing the front fans, which is now a higher temp being read. So any recommendations to make it run cooler, if needed, would be greatly appreciated. Finally, is overclocking going to be beneficial, or even advised being that I am not running any liquid cooling?

I know that was a long read and I thank any in advance who take the time to help me out.

I like afterburner. Works great for monitoring and has a good game overlay.

As far as your cpu cooler goes, I'd switch back to the other direction with the cooler temps. I followed this diagram when my PC was air-cooled. Worked great for me.

Overclocking might make your temps go higher. I'd get this cooling issue under control before moving forward with that.

Great information! I'll download MSI immediately then. So what that diagram shows is essentially spinning the cooler master 180 degrees so that the fan is facing the rear exhaust fan. Thanks! I'll try that and see what I get. I may even spin it 90 after that to see if it utilizes the top 200mm fan better.

-EDIT- So it appears after testing them in each direction, the best was the original way i had it which was the fan clipped to the bottom of it as it is an intake fan shooting the hot air directly into the 200mm fan on top which is just throwing it out, second best way was the fan facing the ram chips, third was the fan facing the exhaust in the back and worst of all was facing the 200mm. It appears that the front case fans should be moved down though to get more cool air into the coolermaster. To all confused by this finding, i have the cooler master logo level with the desk being able to be read correctly. Fan clips on nearest the video card. This however is probably only due to the fan placements elsewhere on the case.
