When I play any game, whether its overwatch or battlefield 1, I keep hitting temps between 70-80 which is way too high for the setup I have in my opinion. I haven't overclocked my cpu so I don't quite understand what is causing these temps. If someone could give me some input it would be greatly appreciated.

*Idle temps hover around 40 degrees

Main specs:
- Intel i5 7600k 3.8 ghz
- CM Hyper 212 Evo
- Asus Z270-a motherboard
- MSI GTX1070

I have a very similar setup, I also have an i5 7600k with the 212 evo. I sometimes hit 70 degrees while playing overwatch which is a little too warm for my liking. I don't play Battlefield 1. I decided to switch to a Noctua d15, I haven't installed it yet. BTW I'm also running at stock speed with xmp overclocked ram at 3200. Which way is your fan facing on the evo and what type of thermal paste did you use?

With that high of idle, you most likely have too much or possibly too little thermal compound...

I'd also make sure your cpu & case fans are running the speed they should be. Check your cpu voltages both in your bios and with software like Hardware Monitor.

Evo fan is facing towards the back of my case. Not sure about the paste I used since my pc was built by the people at NCIX.

My fan faces towards my ram which blows to the back of the case. It can also be the amount of thermal paste or the type of thermal paste used. It may also be the temperature in the room your computer is in. If it's generally cool in the room (60-70 degrees) I would try reseating the heatsink and fan, and I would get some Arctic MX-4 thermal paste. There's a lot of good videos on how to remove and re-apply thermal paste as well as removing and installing the evo 212. Or you can ask the guys at ncix to do it.

Okay, thanks for the advice.
