Hey guys, I'm very excited because I'm going to build my first ever pc soon!! But I need someones approval for the build, I tried using pc partpicker but some of the parts weren't there.
Here it is:

CPU: Ryzen 5 1400
Motherboard: msi b350 PC mate
Ram:Corsair vengeance 8gb ddr4 2666mhz (single stick)
Hard drive: Western Digital 1tb 5400rpm
SSD: any ssd
Graphics card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1050 Windforce 2gb
Case: be quiet! Pure base 600 (the one with the window)
Psu: Corsair CX semi-modular (450w)
Optical drive: ASUS drw-24D5MT

Solution
Yup the YouTube video - in 5 titles it matches or beats the 7400 at stock & beats it easily overclocked.
You're up there in the 80fps+ category in most of those titles so for the average user on a 60htz screen the minimal differences aren't going to matter a jot.
Intel have lost IMO now when it comes to that price range of CPU's , the ryzens are simply better performance chips for multiple uses instead of just gaming.

For gaming that R5 is a mistake it gets beat by a Intel i5 7400 at the same price.

The hard drive should be 7200 RPM not the slow 5400.
The memory should be a 2X4GB set for 8GB total for a bit better performance.
If this is for gaming and your at the top of your budget I would leave off the ANY SSD and put that extra money into the video card.
Leaving off the any SSD this would be much better for gaming and should be in the same price range.

CPU difference much better for gaming.

Make sure you get two ram sticks, not one, otherwise you miss out on dual channel memory and the performance it gives.

Other than that looks good. I would still get the r5 1400 over the i5 7400 as you get 8 threads on the 1400. The gaming performance between the two will be not noticeable most of the time, but if it uses more threads the r5 should get an advantage.

20% better quad core speed with just the i5 7400.

I put literally 0 value in that site you are linking.

And even that shows that the multi threaded performance of the R5 is much higher than the I5.
"34% faster multi core speed".

Games are not using 8 cores
That site is very good run your PC on it all it does is run simple benchmarks on each part in your PC.

Yes actually games are starting to use 8 threads, more will do as time goes on.

Simple benchmarks are irrelevant. Benchmarks of the games/programs that the computer is actually going to be doing are relevant.

I'm with Robcrezz on this , the ryzen is £15 less.
Its on a par with the i5 99% of the time for gaming.
In the future I have no doubt at all that that gap will widen

Its also overclockable to 3.7/3.8ghz easily.
It then beats the i5 fairly consummately.

I wouldn't have a massive issue with single stick ram , dual channel is better though

Absolutely agree you want a 7200rpm drive.
Also the 1050 is weak , 1050ti or RX 470 minimum

I thank everyone who took their time to help me, I really appreciate it. Now my thoughts, I chose the r5 1400 because it had 8 threads and it was the cheapest of the new ryzen cpus, I use blender a lot and it really helps to if I had 8 threads instead of 4. For the ram, I went with only 8gb of ram because I wanted to get another 8g later on since I'm kind of on a budget. I will indeed play games on the pc, and I will get a 1050 ti if my money can handle it, I'm not looking to max out the settings to 4k and get 120fps on every single game I play since my monitor is only 60hz anyway, but I will up the settings if my gpu allows it. As for the hard drive, I'm getting a 7200rpm one since everyone kind of suggests it. Thanks again everyone, really appreciate the help!

@ the depressed - there are matx boards that are $20/£20 cheaper than the PC mate.
You lose a few expansion slots & USB ports but theyre going to perform the same anyway at the end of the day.

Honesty the 1050ti is absolutely worth the $20-30 extra if you can swing it.

I would add a SSD in there... other than that good stuff.
