Memory speed sweetspot for Ryzen 5 1600?

I don't really understand what a maximum ram for CPU is. I read that Ryzen's 5 maximum ram speed is something like 2667 MHz, and I wanted to get G.Skill Ripjaws 2x8 GB 3200 MHz. My Mobo supports up to 3200 MHz (MSI B350 Gaming Pro), but Ryzen's 5 "not"? It will make my 3200 MHz ram speed down to maximum ryzen ram speed or what?

I'm really confused right now, is it good to get faster ram, or it's useless because I won't use that speed anyways?

@Edit
To clarify, I don't have any of these things now, i'm upgrading my mobo, ram and CPU so i don't have any ram, mobo on AM4 etc. currently.

If you have verified that your mobo of choice supports the RAM you prefer/have selected, and if the RAM and mobo are both rated for 3200, you should get 3200. The question is then about the BIOS for your board. Has the BIOS been updated/verified to allow for 3200? Many have been. Do your research on forums and reviews and you should see users that have similar if not identical components matched up and their outcomes. I think in a few months, all boards and RAM will be hitting 3200... IF the board is rated to do so.

I've found this about my Mobo:
- Supports DDR4-3200+(OC) Memory

so I think it will support 3200 MHz.

Sorry, but does Ditt44's reply actually answer the question? I had a similar confusion, but the reply kinda ignores the CPU completely, focusing only on the Mobo. I confess I don't really know much, so it'll really help if someone can explain a tad patiently...?

So the question still remains: If the Ryzen 5 1600x says it supports till 2667 Mhz, is there any point in using RAM that has speeds above this?

Thanks.

Hello after quite a some time. I bought the CPU in May.
It currently sits on 2933 MHz on the newest BIOS update. Unfortunatelly can't get it to work on 3200 MHz. Infinite mobo bootloops.
I hope I helped.

Hey thanks for replying so quickly!

Actually I should apologising for necro-ing this thread. But I'm putting together a Ryzen build too, and reading up a LOT on forums... And this answer confused me quite a bit.

But yeah, I guess getting a 3200 MHz won't really help. So your input helps. Thanks!
