My power supply can supply up tp 500w and i want to upgrade my graphic card to msi rx 480 8gb gaming x but my power supply have only 1 6 pin cable can i use the 6 pin to 8 pin adapter?
and will it work?

That is not good plan. If your PSU does not have 8-pin cable, it most likely is not meant to run GPU that needs one. What exactly PSU you have - brand and model?
