My new build is a i7 7700K upgrading from an AMD FX build.

I have narrowed my choices on mobos down to 3 that work for my needs. I have researched this every day for a month now... brain hurts

I based these choices on - Performance - BIOS - fan control - internal USB - Looks - reviews - stability - overclocking - streaming - some video editing - main use gaming

ASUS TUF Z270 Mark 1

MSI Z270 MPOWER Gaming (thats mpower NOT the Xpower)

ASUS ROG Z270F Gaming

Any feedback on user experience including warranty, company reputation for quality, RMA/Warranty would be greatly appreciated.

Though all of the above mentioned mobos seems to be similar, but the ASUS is providing more customisation. Moreover, ASUS TUF Z270 Mark 1 is providing 5yrs of warranty. Check here: https://www.asus.com/in/Motherboards/TUF-Z270-MARK-1/HelpDesk_Warranty/

Your both bang on the ASUS but there is a bit of a problem. A 5 year warranty or any warranty from ASUS means nothing because they dont back it up they expect the retailer too.

I recently had to deal with them on my 970Pro mobo and realised there is no real warranty compaired to how other companies handle defective products. They do not warranty thier products directly instead they send you to the original retailer. So if that retailer goes out of buisness has no tech repair support being an online only retailer or if the ASUS product is 2nd hand you have NO warranty. When I found this out it really pissed me off. Also if you read thier warranty info they can in some cases repair the product and send you a bill. So the ASUS warranty is complete BS. I have only ever used asus mobos and never had a problem till now this has ruined my confidence in them. This is where I become hesitant about purchasing a 265 euro mobo.. I lost a 100 euros on the 970 but I dont mind as much but its still a slap in the face. The original seller would not warranty it so im out of luck on that one. They said unable to determin the cause of the mobo failure so no warranty. ASUS did nothing to help me. As they said they do not RMA directly thats up to the seller of the product. They couldent even back a 2 year warranty I had the 970 for 7 months before failure. This is no warranty. The 5 year warranty on the box is as valuble as the ink used to false advertise it.

The boards are the best in my opinion its rare for one to go bad its just thier customer service that sucks. If you buy new from a local store you should be fine. I dont know where ill be in 1 year nevermind 5 years so the warranty is no selling point for me. ASUS needs to change thier RMA to something like EVGA's set up.
