Hey guys, I need your help regarding my overclock, I have an i7 4770k but can't go past 4.4Ghz at 1.225v, I have a Gigabyte Z97P-D3, 16Gb of DDR3 1600Mz from Crucial, and a Gigabyte 700w, it seems like it hit a wall, at 4.5Ghz with 1.32v, not stable, I've left the ram at 1.5v and 1600Mhz, the uncore at 4.2Ghz.

The temps aren't that high after delidding it (65°C at 1.225v and 74°C at 1.32v),it and I'm using a Dark Rock Pro 2.

So any help?

I had trouble trying to keep my 4770k stable at 4.5ghz - seems I was up in the 1.28 - 1.29v range. I delidded and it dropped my temps 10-15c but I still didn't want to get to 1.3v. I eventually settled on 4.3ghz at 1.21v, completely stable and good temps. I run some CPU-intensive apps - the difference between 4.5ghz and 4.3ghz was 5 seconds per minute. In a 20-minute run I'd save 100 seconds - I categorize this as a point of diminishing returns in terms of CPU longevity as well as my time to tweak and test...

Overclock capacity varies widely from CPU to CPU, even if they are the same model. Haswell wasn't particularly great as I understand it. I ran my 4770k @4.5 (all cores) for a while when trying to benchmark a GPU with 3DMark Firestrike. It did ok for the benchmark but wasn't really stable for general gaming use. I was nowhere near 1.3v vcore (don't recall exact voltage), was running my 1600 ram @2000 without de-lidding. I honestly think stable 4.4ghz for a 4770k is pretty good. Going to 4.5 may be possible with a whole lot of effort and the performance gain just isn't worth it for me. I actually dialed back to 4.3 (all cores), 2000mhz ram so I'm not risking damage.
