so, heres the catch. i had this problem once before but I got so frustrated with it that I just completely wiped everything and started from scratch. But that was a year ago when I built my computer so I didn't have much to lose back then when it was just a little gaming computer that thought it's job was gonna be easy. Shockingly, I still have yet to put this computer into overclock because I never had to. But that's beside the point. The main reason I'm here is because my internet is completely fucked up.

Once upon a time, I started my computer for just another day playing rainbow six siege all day until none of my applications were connecting to the internet. No uplay, steam, discord, all of my apps that start up automatically and require Internet to load kept giving me error after error. I looked at the bottom of my screen and see the little ethernet symbol with a yellow triangle next to it. I start to do the basics, unplug and replug, restart, switch ports, nothing. I have a 150 ft cable that connects my computer to the modem itself, and I haven't touched it since I installed it. Can't be that.

Turns out, my wifi card I had since the beginning of the birth of my computer is messing with my ethernet connection. I connect everything wireless in my room to the extender that's between the router and my room, 150 ft away (exaggeration) from each other. They're both top of the line so it can reach with pretty good connection. It doesn't connect when I'm connected through ethernet, but somehow, it says I'm connected to my extender through ethernet......... impossible. I ran diagnostics and it said something like the ip address was not the same. Shocker. Luke I said this happened once before, but I'm too late in the process to reset to factory settings. I know this is a lot but thank you for listening.

So I looked up my ipconfig and I saw I don't have a default gateway, and my ipv4 is different. Usually it's 192.168.0.1 but it also says "autoconfiguration ipv4 address: 169.254.128.11. I hope this helps. Please reply as fast as possible.

nevermind guys! i got it with a little bit of extra digging. i just went ahead and manually set my ip address similar to some of the other ones on my network and let it fix itself then. i guess i should stop immediately posting questions on here until i do a little digging in the first place.
