So I just got my E3-1240v6. It works just fine but at stock speeds but at idle it's at about 45C with a Noctua cooler. With only 2 cores busy it instantly hits 60C and then back to 45C when back to idle. I'm using Grizzly kryonaut betweeen heatsink and CPU.
Everything else on the system is around 35C max.
I'm assuming that more effective cooling would help Turbo Boost kick in more frequently but maybe that's not 100% accurate.
The only thing that is making me hesitate is that I don't know anyone that's done this on a V6 and on the off chance that lid is soldered and not just using a TIM. Also there is the whole tearing apart a brand new CPU.
