Four month old GPU - gradually increasing temperatures this week

I'm running a midrange build (i5 6600k, Zotac GTX 1070), and for the past few days I've seen my temperatures gradually rising.

Three days ago my fan started getting faster. It was around 80% when playing WoW, and I figured it was the ambient temperature. My GPU was still in the sub-75 degree range so I figured it was fine. Prior to this I seldom even noticed the sound of the fan.

Over the next couple of days it gradually started going faster and getting hotter, and today while playing WoW it got up to 82 degrees with the fan going at 92%. I turned off the game because of that.

The inside of the case is pristine in terms of dust, there are no cords resting on the GPU, and it's not exactly boiling hot outside. This was the first PC I've ever built, and it hasn't really given me any issues so far, but this GPU is driving me up the wall. I'm not sure what the problem may be or why it would present itself now.

Of course, when I'm not running any games, my GPU is around 50 degrees.

I would really appreciate any help.

Try to see if you can find a software for this particular GPU that allows you to change fan speed/OC. If you already have that, I would try to take the clock down a bit to see if that helps. GPUs can have random throttling issues that make them a pain in your *ss. And, while I recognize that a 1070 is a very powerful card, I'd still try to run highly intensive games at lower settings to test the temps. Or, go through some stress test to try and figure it all out.
