I got a deal from a friend of mine on 3 motherboards . The motherboards are Biostar GF7050-M2 , Jetway M26GTA-DG and Asus M2N68-CM . I have a PC that fried half a year ago (the motherboard and power supply to be exact) so I want to get one of these motherboards and fix my old computer up but I have no idea which one would work on my old parts . My old pc had an AMD Phenom II X4 975 (or 965/955 can't exactly recall that part unfortunetly I do remember it was 3.6 GHz and a quad core but I never payed much attention ) 2 sticks of 2GB DDR2 RAM Super Talent and an AMD Sapphire HD 6670 . I plan on getting a 400 watt power supply but first I need to know which one of these motherboards would be best for the parts I have . One more thing I would like to ask I opened up my old case to check the parts out and I noticed that my processor was on an AM2 socket . Could that have slowed down the processor when the PC was in use ?

Solution
Given that you PSU and motherboard fried. I can only assume the PSU took out the motherboard. How do you know your RAM and CPU are still good? What about your other components? I wouldn't recommend spending money trying to fix a PC that old. Factor into the cost that you may very well end up having to buy a new Windows license.

That being said. I'd get the ASUS board. Out of that lot.

This Dell Optiplex 790 is much faster. You could slap in a PSU. I'd recommend the SeaSonic S12-II and install a decent GPU.
- Core i5-2500
- 8GB RAM
- 500GB HD
- Windows 7 Pro

If you consider new...

If you consider new. This will be a very good system.

I know that the RAM is still working because I have it on this current PC and I have 2 other DDR2 sticks 1 being 2 GB and the other being 1 GB just in case . As for the CPU I have no idea if its still working . My pc fried bit by bit . To put it exactly it began to turn off at random points and after a month I couldn't start it up because everytime I did it would turn off and there would be a rare moment where I would get to the windows screen then it would turn off and at one point I started it up after cleaning it with air cans and changing the thermal paste and the psu made a bang and began to smoke (it also smelled like something had been rotting in it). I gave it to a repair shop for a check and after they checked it out they told me the motherboard is dead . I am taking a risk with this but my friend said I can test the motherboards so I can just put in my cpu and see if it works if needed . As for a brand new PC I can't afford that right now .
