Hey, I bought a new SteelSeries Siberia headset about a year or so, however recently I powered on my PC and the mic wasn't working anymore. People can hear my computer sounds, for example if im playing a game they can hear the game sounds or if im listening to music they can hear that as well, but absolutely no voice. I've tried everything i can think of (updating steelseries/realtek drivers, reinstalling the drivers from device manager, deleting them and installing them, changing jacks, playing around with the levels and other options, enabling and disabling stereo mix, using independent jacks, playing around with playback/recording devices etc) but absolutely nothing has been working so far. I've read every thread there is when it comes to problems like these and what other people found as solutions it did not work for me. I even tried restoring the computer to an older date but it didnt allow me this time. The headset was working perfeclty fine a couple of days ago. I feel like a windows update screwed it. (i uninstalled some windows updates but no luck) Any suggestions?

Is the music that's playing over your headset (and being picked up by the mic) distorted at all? You can check by recording the sound from the mic while the music is playing.

If you're able to, post a recording of the sound that the mic is picking up.

Lastly, how heavily have you used the headset over the time you've had it?

As far as what I've been told by the people hearing it its been clear, because they were repeating everything they can hear from my game. I've been using it quite a bit and it never had any problems before now. I have a sibiria frost v2 before that and it was working for years without any problems.
EDIT: it just seems like the computer does not detect it as an actualy microphone, even though in the recording tab its says "Mic"

If you still have the V2, see if it has the same issue. It could be a short in the headset. The microphone has a very high impedance output, and the speakers have a low impedance input. Between the two, if the mic were shorted to one of the drivers, it would drastically reduce the volume of the mic's signal, and would overpower that with the signal from the driver.

Unfortunately I dont have the v2 anymore, the plastic usb case broke some time ago. I was thinking about just trying it on another computer and seeing if the problem is there as well.
I just tried them on another computer and again the mic was not detected, but audio wasnt being played to the other person, ill go and try and get them replaced as they are still under warranty.
