Hi all and if any1 can help will be super appreciative!!

Firstly all the stuff on my pc is super cheap so i know i didnt buy the best available...

My pc specs were: 500-503nv HP(pre made)
i5 4460 3.2ghz
8gb ram
180w power supply
AMD R7 240
Windows 10

I got an AMD r9 270 and was advised my power supply was insufficient so i changed out my power supply to a coolermaster elite 600w.

The pc crashes ... monitors switch off and pc restarts as soon as i open any game and very rarely while i am browsing.

I removed all drivers and installed new drivers correctly from amd site. Control panel is recognising graphics card and can start benchmarking gpu for a while before crash. (few mins)

Checked CPU and gpu temp and both are between 50-60 deg C.

Took pc to shop and the claim its a cpu issue (shop that sold me psu). They tested psu infront of me and seemed to work smoothly. I downloaded intel processor diagnostic and finding no issue with cpu.
Also ran a stress test on cpu and didnt crash (without gpu).
Sress test on gpu on diff pc and worked beautifully no crashes.
Reinstall old gpu and no issue but my old one is much smaller.

Changed paste on cpu cooler
Not sure how to proceed.
Any help please

Try booting up Ubuntu from the CD and running some GPU benchmarking utility through there. If it still crashes than you know that its not a windows centric issue and probably not software related.

Its always possible either of the new parts just doesn't work or the PSU isn't putting out the current it needs to at the voltage and stability levels the GPU wants.

Do remember to update the BIOs, sometimes that resolves weird issues now and then but its a bit of a shot in the dark.

Have you watched the temperatures at the moment the computer turns off? Is that where you get those temperatures then?

Used or new parts?

First thing I'd do is put your computer back the way it was, all original. Then stress test it. Does it work? If yes, then the next step is to replace the PSU with the new one. Stress test the computer, does it work? If yes, the the problem is with the videocard itself OR configuring the videocard to work with this system.

When you hook up the new PSU, double check all your connections. Make sure everything that was connected to the original power supply has the same kind of connection to the new PSU. Make sure all plugs are securely and properly seated.

The gpu is used but in good condition and tested on other pc and gd.
the psu is new but took it back to store and they ran tests on it on my pc with another gpu and another pc and it seems to be ok.
I have updated the bios but not sure what to change is bios that could fix issue (also not sure if i would know what ia m doing to mess with it)
Watched the temps right up to the point of shutdown and they have never passed 65 deg c.
Shop replaced my cpu with miuch smaller i3 cpu and it worked perfectly BUT i cant understand how a cpu can pass a stress test and fail with a new gpu..... confused

I would say a PSU that can't deliver what its supposed to be able to is the problem. If they tested voltages only or didn't hook up a high enough load the fault might not show itself.

If you have personally tested every component on its own and they all work fine but the sum of the parts is the issue than it very well might be the one thing that links all those parts together in your system. Either the main board or the PSU. Unless you have OCed or done crazy stuff I don't think CPUs dying is as common as GPUs but I have no data to rely on for this. It just sounds like the PSU is bad or cheap junk.

Just for the hell of it I would downclock the card a good bit in AMD drivers and run furmark for some time.

installed gpu tweak 2 and lowered the power to 80%, it got through all the benchmarks and gave me a result but as soon as i went to close (i.e. load of gpu) the computer crashed ... tried it gain with same result (prior to lowering power was crashing before the 3rd benchmark, 26 in total)..... Plan today to replace psu with corsair vs550 and will update if works
