Device Audio Is Not Automatically Rerouted To My Bluetooth Headset

I recently bought some Bose QC35 headphones. Every time I re-pair these headphones to my Windows 8.1 computer, I have to set them as the default audio device again, otherwise the sound comes through the computer speakers instead. I noticed that windows doesn't automatically notice that my headphones are disconnected when I turn them off. I've restarted the computer with the headphones off, only to find that, after the computer is back on, my bluetooth settings say the computer is paired with the turned off headset. Windows has a troubleshooting page relating to this issue, but the solution involves an update from a few years ago that I would've installed back then. How do I get my computer to detect that the headphones are disconnected, and how do I get it to automatically reroute sound to my headphones when I reconnect them?

Solution
1.Go to Speaker in tray right click on it
2.then select playback device
3.again right click on playback devices and select both option
4.now your Bluetooth handset will be shown
5.right click on it and select connect.
