Modding PCIe Power Connectors on a EVGA PowerLink

I recently purchased a EVGA PowerLink (cable management component that moves PCIe power connectors from the side to the back of the GPU) but my Zotac GTX 1070 AMP! Edition has its PCIe power connectors oriented the wrong way, upside down to be specific. While the powerlink does allow for some modding like sliding the power connectors around and removing them for multiple different pin setups 6, 8, 6+8, 8+8, and maybe even 6+6 if you were to buy an extra 6 pin connector (it only comes with one) it doesn't allow for flipping them 180 degrees. Seeing as the power flows through it on a conductive rails as opposed to wires I think that it could theoretically be made to work with my gpu if the parts were rotated correctly. Obviously the instructions manual and warranty very explicitly say not to do this but I already threw $30 away on this and naively scraped away one of the warranty stickers in my quest to find the connector adjustments screws before all this started (they're under the rubbery things), I might as well put in some effort to get my money's worth.
The primary physical obstacle to simply inserting them upside down is the plastic that blocks the tabs on the connectors (the thing you press to remove the cables). That plastic has been removed on the bottom side of the rails but not the top however that's nothing a dremel or drill with a fancy bit couldn't solve. Then comes my somewhat electrician-related question, would this cause the current to run through the gpu the wrong way? If so, what would happen and would it be bad? Also, if it were to cause issues could they be remedied by also rotating the other pair of connectors on the outside of the powerlink? And a somewhat similar question is what would happen if the pins a power cable like this were to connect the wrong way, for example a 180 degree flip (top left and bottom right together, etc.)?
Finally, are there any alternatives out there to EVGA's that are compatible with my gpu or could more easily be?

lol,,, I thought you were nuts with that - ''but my Zotac GTX 1070 AMP! Edition has its PCIe power connectors oriented the wrong way, upside down to be specific''

there turned around to where the clip part is to the PCB on the zotac and evga cards have the clip part away from the pcb [I'm going to look over more brands cards to see what way there putting that ] msi 1070 is like your zotac as well ?? maybe a evga thing ?

ya looked at several non evga 1070 cards all had the clip part to the pcb so far just evga has theres facing the other way .. I guess that keeps there stuff only being used on there stuff ??

interesting thing to now know I never would of realized any of that went on

I realize this is an old post but in case anyone else comes looking I figured I would answer it.

Flipping the connectors would short out the powerlink, and your gpu. So if you like fried pc components, that's the way to go.

The powerlink can be modded but it takes some electrical know-how.

The input pcie connectors on the powerlink are soldered to the pcb on each pin, good luck trying to flip those. And if you do the capacitors won't like you very much.

The mod in question deals only with the output.

You can reverse the polarity of the pcie connectors and it will work for 'inverted' gpu power connectors. You have to remove the two legs after the capacitor, up to the 90 degree turn in the powerlink, cross over one on the top and one on the bottom so they don't touch and resolder them.

You have to cut the trace on the pcb on the bottom (opposite side of the capacitors) between the two legs.

If you do that correctly, you can flip the pcie connectors and it will work with the inverted plugs.
