SS vs DS RAM issue on ASUS mobo.

I bought this kit of ram, which has an SS and a DS version according to this QVL. My Asus B350m-a won't post, even though the ram's on the QVL as DS. Asus said it's my ram. If I buy this motherboard, which has the SS version listed under it's QVL, would that solve my issue?

EDIT: Here's the Config(s) I attempted to boot with.
CPU: 1700x
Ram: CMK16GX4M2B3000C15 (1 & 2 stick(s), every configuration)
Mobo: Asus B350M-A
PSU: EVGA 750w/Silverstone 550w
GPU: GT610/GTX650/GTX650ti/GTX970/GTX1070
Reset CMOS between each config. Been at this for almost 3 days now.

You should only use memory that has been tested specifically for this motherboard via the QVL (and via memory manufacturer website memory searches) for this motherboard. The first QVL applies to a different model of motherboard, so the memory listed there is not guaranteed to work in other motherboards (including this B350M-A).

So if purchasing a memory module based on information contained in the B350M-A QVL (and/or from memory manufacturer memory search results), then the memory module(s) should work.

The first QVL is simply an example of there being both an SS and DS version of the same RAM kit. It's listed on the B350M-A's QVL, but I am not the only one having posting issues with this exact ram on this exact board. My assumption was that I got a SS version of the kit, which wouldn't normally matter(less the CPU be very picky with ram). Assuming this, I was asking if buying a motherboard with the SS version of the kit listed under the QVL would solve this problem. Asus support told me I needed almost 2000w to power my system(clearly wrong), then told me my RAM was dead(Also very unlikely).

They're version 5.39. Also, I read somewhere that ryzen can take several minutes on it's first boot, if so, then should I re-try my testing, but leave it on for a good 5-10minutes? This is assuming my ram winds up being supposedly compatible.

OK. I believe you have the SS version of the module. So according to the QVL, the memory you have should be compatible with your system.

Can't comment regarding the Ryzen CPU's as I don't have one nor any experience with them.

I also understand others have been and are having memory compatibility issues when using Ryzen CPU's.

Here are some general suggestions.

Remove the CPU and check it and its socket carefully for any damage, dust, dirt, or debris on or amongst the pins and pads.

Re-mount the CPU carefully and evenly. Uneven mounting of the CPU may cause electrical contact issues between the CPU and the socket, which in turn usually leads to other system issues (including memory problems).

Make sure ALL cables/wires are connected properly.

Ensure video card is seated properly also.

Perhaps closely inspect memory slots for any damage, dust, or debris also.

Insert memory modules firmly within their slots.

The only imperfection I could point out would be a small amount of thermal paste that got onto the underside of the cpu. It was booted once with this flaw, but I use ceramic, non-conductive thermal paste. I cleaned it off thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol before attempting further testing. As for the QVL, the asus board I have has it listed at DS only, not SS. the AsRock board I plan on buying has it listed as SS. This is either a typo, or it only works with the DS version of the ram (The M2 is an M4 in that kit, I believe).

Sorry! I followed the QVL link (you posted) for the ASrock motherboard (where the Corsair SS memory is listed as being compatible), instead of researching the Asus motherboard QVL.

Yes. The Asus B350M-A motherboard QVL lists the Corsair memory part number CMK16GX4M2B3000C15 as being compatible for DS memory only. However, its possible that SS version may not have been tested (yet), so the SS version might be compatible anyway.

I would expect both DD and SS memory versions to run in any of these motherboards, unless there is some peculiarity with the memory controller(s)?

It is still suggested that the full list of checking the computer for hardware issues be done as posted previously.

Ryzen is far to picky to assume two alike kits will work IMO. I listed all the configurations I attempted in my initial post. I have already attempted multiple re-seats of GPU, CPU, and power cables. Going on several days now, my original question stands of: Assuming I did all testing perfectly, would buying that ASROCK turn the "ram maybe/might/kinda work" into a "will work", assuming nothing else is the culprit?

EDIT: The way I see it, if the ASROCK works, I return the asus. If the asrock doesn't work, I'll exchange the ram for another QVL kit. If eveything still doesn't work, I return it all and buy an xeon or i7. Can't say I didn't try to support the underdog.

Thanks, I'll buy the motherboard and report back once it's shipped.

Update: After a long shipping time, several issues with asrock's patched windows 7 installer, and the succumbing to windows 10, I have both sticks of ram working on the Asrock on the 1.40 BIOS.
