No display on monitor with new build

I have built a new pc and everything seems functional - case, CPU, and graphics fans spinning. However I'm not getting any hdmi output. Do I need a display port cable?

And also, could the pci-e slot be faulty? I know the motherboard itself is functional because the RGB io cover is working.

Specs?

You might have a board that has a BIOS , that doesn't support your CPU.

If your using a H110 , B150 , H170 , Z170 with a new Skylake CPU you could have the issue state above.

Psu is seasonic m12ii evo 620w - it's a tier 2 psu

Try removing the graphics card and testing with monitor connected to motherboard.

Monitor. It's 7 years old though but still acts and looks new - 2ms response time and 60hz

hdmi are standard. However, is there a LED that stays red when starting the board? If yes, which one?

What's the exact model of RAMs? Also try leaving single RAM module installed and testing each RAM slot. Make sure that the RAM is fully seated.
