So now that console's and PC's are getting closer and closer in quality what components would you suggest today are on par with ps4 variants?

I have an overclocked I7 4770K 4.4 GHz and a GTX 770 4GB I've used this for the past 4 or 5 years now and will probably upgrade again soon but I've noticed that gaming console's now like the ps4 are probably about on par or better in some games than my pc is now. For example FO4 is 2 years old and my game just about pushes FO4 on 1080p with ultra textures and high everything else meanwhile the newest ps4 runs it at 1440p (I believe native) and the equivalent of ultra textures and high everything else with minimum grass draw.

Is it becoming time to switch to the cheaper console rather than spend thousands just to have a computer that out performs a console?

Nope, you can get a pretty good gaming PC for around 500-600 $/pounds/eur (doesn't matter) suitable For 1080p@60fps gaming at med-high-ultra settings depending on the game. If you added a bit more, for ~800 money units you can get a high-end machine with something like a GTX1070 paired with a decent i5 and this one would be able to push 1440@60fps at high/ultra settings. Yep, it is possible to build a beast without spending thousands, you just have to read a lot and find the best combinations for the best price to performance ratio! (I mean you have to spend time finding info about EVERY item you're going to buy and how will it work with other components you've chosen)

Also how tf do consoles push their graphics that well when the components are nowhere near as good as pc components? Is it something to do with how well they program games for consoles?

Consoles run at 720p-1080p resolution as native and everything above is achieved with upscalling. The thing is, console makers pay game-developers for optimization, so consoles get more optimized versions of the game if compared to the PC games.

Mm, you can't build a good pc for the price of a console(~300$+), so in the budget range the console wins, but if you added 200$ more the the budget, there would be no consoles able to outperform that PC's performance. For me, 200$ is not "thousands" :D Anyway, since i have 2x xbox 360 controllers with a x360 USB receiver dongle, i wouldn't go back to the console-gaming. I kinda got used to 60fps gameplay with a controller.

For better performance you should upgrade your graphics card, the CPU seems still strong enough.

I mean to build a pc from scratch probably cost thousands, like 1200 ish british pounds? yeah cpu is great just needs new gpu

No. It doesn't. A solid PC is achievable for less than $600. A beast actually starts for less than $1500.

About the only time a PC starts being obscenely priced is with heavy modding, metric tonnes of SSD, or TRI/QUAD SLI type setups with an ungodly number of Titan Xs.

I would buy the a 1070 and fuhgetabawt for the next 3-4 years. Yes, the Scorpion is nice but can't compete at that level.

I like my PC. A part dies and I can replace it(or the manf. replaces it based on the warranty). A part becomes obsolete and I can replace it. I want better cooling and I can upgrade it. My PC can grow with my needs/wants.

That bear up there is looking at this
