I am making an everyday use computer that does not have a gpu. When I plug DVI or HDMI into my motherboard, my monitor does not recognize it and goes back to sleep. How to I get this (and the integrated graphics) to work?

Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/cspVyf

Edit: My motherboard has EZDebug lights and the one that means the CPU is either not dedicated or failed is on.

Solution
Answer to original question is: with new motherboard, it is as simple as connecting cable to motherboard and monitor and that's it. Nothing more required. However, just in case you may reset CMOS.

If CPU debug LED is lit (not blinking, solid on), check the following:
Check if 8 pin EPS cable is plugged in?
CPU fan connected to CPU_FAN header?
Are you absolutely positive you installed CPU correctly?
If all answers are yes, you will have to remove CPU and check motherboard CPU socket for any bent/broken pins. If all is good there, then most likely your CPU is not working.

I can't get to the BIOS because my monitor does not recognize my computer. I don't have a gpu for this pc (although I could take mine out of my gaming pc and throw it in for a little).

I would follow what Dragor said, THEN return BOTH of them if it still isn't working. You only have a month to return them, which is why I'd send them both back together. You won't really know which was bad, but as long as it works when it comes back, it doesn't really matter. ;)

I found bent and broken pins in the cpu socket. Should send just the motherboard, or both the mobo and cpu back? If I only gte the mobo replaced what thermal paste should I get?

are there pins on the CPU, or just the flat type contacts? if there are no pins on the CPU itself, (or are no bent pins at least) I would just return the mobo. TIM is another story, there are so many to choose from. Arctic MX-4 is a bit older but reliable and easy to work with/manage. It's a decent choice.
