RAM not recognised in BIOS with new CPU (works with old one)

Hi there,
I have recently purchased an fx6300 cpu. Installed it ok, but found that windows only recognises 12GB out of my 16GB of RAM (2x8GB), with only 8GB usable. However, when I switched back to my old processor, all 16GB were recognised. CPU-Z is recognising all 16GB. However, BIOS only recognises 8GB

No pins on the cpu are obviously bent and the processor went in ok.

The bios is the most recent version (F4), and the fx6300 is on the compatible cpu list for the motherboard (http://www.gigabyte.com/Support/GetCpuList/?Value=4305&Type=Product)

My system is
Gigabyte GA-78lmt-usb3 motherboard (rev. 4.1)
AMD 5850 Graphics card
2x8GB 1333Mhz RAM
EVGA 500W PSU

Any ideas how to fix this?
Thanks!

Install the amd software if you havent already http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/Radeon-Software-Install.aspx and make sure all the relevant drivers for the cpu are the latest. Also try putting 1 ram stick in then seeing if it works. take it out then put the other ram stick in the same slot just to see if the cpu doesnt like one of them for some reason

I've tried all of that, including drivers and stuff. It likes both sticks individually, just Not together

Its not detecting it in the bios anyway, so drivers wouldn't make any difference

Sorry I don't know then the last step I could think of is a full system restore but I don't think that would work or it could just be a cpu fault especially if you brought it used but I'm sure someone else has a solution, sorry
