Hey guys. So I am buying a cooler for my i7 4790s. I really dislike being in the 70's under load even though there is no overclock on the cpu with the stock fan. I am also buying this cooler in mind for my next future cpu that will have overclocking. Therefore, I need the best cpu cooler for the money. I have no budget, however, if there is a crazy expensive cooler that really provides no benefit, then I don't want it. In other words, what is the best bang for your dollar cpu cooler that supports lga 1150 as well as newer sockets? A recommendation to a cooler where the price makes sense, and the cooling it offers is superb is what I want. Thanks for the help.

I found this corsair liquid cooler for 59 bucks its not bad and it fits lga 1150 I would recommend this if you are or going to be a over clocker also what ever CPU your getting you should go check out the intel tuning package it gives you a extra warranty for if your CPU fails during overclocking go check it out its only 25 to 30 bucks.

To be honest, I am not a big fan of liquid cooling as I have no experience with that, and will also have to deal with headaches in terms of draining the liquid, leaks, etc. Now to answer your question, my case is kind of small inside, so maybe not. Though, I can't say for certain.

also you said that your not a big fan this liquid cooler is pre built so you wont have to worry about draining the liquid out also there is a very low percentage that your going to have any leeks because corsair is a very trustable company and finally you do not need any experience to install one just put the radiator in just as you would a normal case fan and install the bracket like a normal air cooler and your set to go.

Interesting. Thanks for the recommendation. A couple other questions I have. The first of which is, would you say that the more expensive cpu liquid coolers out there face the law of diminishing returns? Remember, since I don't have a budget, I would like the best cpu cooler for the money. What I am trying to say is, would you say this one is one of the best for the money, and that I am not missing much with the more expensive ones? Secondly, based on the dimensions of my case given in the link above, do you think it will fit? Thanks for your help so far. :)

Well a 280 mm radiator would dissipate more heat and would keep your CPU cooler so yes buying a bigger radiator one would be better but your case is prebuilt and I'm just guessing but most retailers would not give you a 280 mm fan area so I would recommend if you want a better liquid cooler just get a case If you could tell me a budget for a case I could tell you which one to get also getting a case would improve airflow and you would have so much more upgrade ability options so if you could tell me what you want I got help you out on a specific goal.

Yea. I was planning on getting a new case once I upgrade my cpu, since I would need a new mobo. You see, my mobo right now is a mini-atx, which isn't big enough for sli. When I upgrade my cpu, I will need a new mobo., and since an atx mobo won't fit into my case, that is when I will purchase a new case as well. I don't have a specific case in mind as of now, but I can tell you what I would desire spec wise, and maybe you can make a recommendation from that. So I want a full-tower Atx case, it needs to have at least two slots, one for HDD and one for SSD. I don't think I would need more than 3 slots for that stuff. I would like a case big enough for sli, and is big enough for custom water-cooling for both the cpu, and the gpu's. Is there a case you have in mind that you could recommend? For the case, I don't have a budget. Please note that for now, I will go with the smaller liquid kit you recommended initially, as I won't be getting a case until my next cpu upgrade, which may still be for some time. Hopefully it will fit into the case. :)

The best case I could recommend is the nzxt s340 it's very nice looking supports all your needs and has many good reviews even I have one here's the link. Also for the liquid cooler I can give you two choices one that is for style and has rgb and one that is for preformance either the nzxt kraken for the looks or the corsair h115i extreme they both almost have identical oreformance but the kraken has the looks so here's the links you can see which one fits your budget or style.

Nzxt s340:

Hey. Just want to say, thanks for your help. It looks like my specs don't really require a full tower, as you recommended a mid-tower. It also got the damn good value award, which I like a lot, since I am all about best bang for your dollar. So what I will do is buy the smaller liquid cooler for now to replace the intel stock cooler, and once the case is upgraded(along with the cpu), I will wait until the small liquid cooler is showing it's age, and that's when I will go with the big boy water-coolers. One final question, I promise. Hopefully my questions aren't annoying you. My last question is are these large cpu liquid coolers also pre-built, meaning it doesn't require experience with water-cooling to use it? Thanks again for your help. :)

If you're looking into modestly priced coolers, I believe the Cryorig H7 also qualifies at $35. I'm currently using it with an i5 7600k at 4.5 GHz and it has managed to keep me stable at 82C so far under full load through OCCT's small data set made for generating heat. It's quite acceptable since no other games so far have pushed my CPU past the 75C mark.

It's not too large in height, and it has perfect ram clearance too so it may be a very good choice if you feel apprehensive to the idea of having water circulating all around your precious electronics :p
