Processor AMD FX-9370
Graphics Card AMD Radeon R9 270X
Power Supply Corsair cx 850
motherboard Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 rev4
RAM 16gb DDR3
Cooler Asetek 550lc liquid cooler

My computer is having problems with overheating. At idle its at 30c. Under mild load its at around 60c and under heavy load it going up to 80+. It is causing random freezes and shutdowns. I have had the computer for about three years with no overheating issues before. A couple months ago the power supply died and I had to have it and the motherboard replaced. I already tried cleaning the dust out and reseating with new thermal paste the cooler. Its been running on this cooling system for years with no problems. What else could it be?

I see that particular cooler being available as far back as 2010. Liquid coolers like that usually are more potent than traditional heatsinks, but share a common issue with age / warehousing / shelf life. The liquid in your tubes may be evaporating and losing efficiency, just like the vapor in those copper heat pipes does over time. If your AIO liquid cooler is still new, I'd also look into the possibility of a leak, double check what thermal paste you used, research its efficiency and whether or not you should be using a different kind, how you applied the thermal paste (If you used too much or spread it too thin), and whether your cpu has an overclock or not. Also make sure that your radiator has a lot of fresh, room temp airflow, and isn't obstructed by something like a drive cage or oversized RAM. Best of luck to you
