I recently built my own pc, and I had read about power supply issues beforehand, I already knew not to cheap out on a power supply. I had checked all of my parts on pcpartpicker.com to make sure they were all compatible, however, when I built my pc one of the cables was glowing red and smoking. I turned off the pc immediately and found that the cable running from the power supply to the sys fan port had blown. There appears to be no other damage, however I would like to know if this was because the power supply did not provide the correct amount of power before I order another one. Here is the list of my parts: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/83d7HN

How did you run a power cable to the SYS_FAN header? The SYS_FAN header is to connect a fan to.

The only power cable that's remotely similar to a fan connector is the 4-pin floppy connector. That said, the floppy connector is normally an adapter these days, as no one uses it.

Please post a photo of the power cable you used.

Also, go over the motherboard with a magnifying glass to make sure you didn't incinerate a trace. If you did, the board is a potential fire hazard.
