More cpu power Ryzen 5 or i7 ?

4 month ago i bought a i5 6600k and it's doing a good job

With Ryzen 5 1600 and above you do get alot of maximum performance and good single core performance, where intel is better at gaming but maximum performance is not as good as Ryzen 5.

I had just a little more than 2 years an i7 4790k, it got a bit hot beacuse of ht, but the performance was very good, had i known what i went through after i decided i didn't need all of that cpu power and ended up with a i5 6600k, instead of a i7 6700 or 6700k, i would never have sold it, it could easily have last me another 2 years.

I want more cpu power so my cpu would last longer before i have the need to upgrade.

I have a 2560x1440 for movies, tv,tidal hifi and 3440x1440 g sync monitor i game on and do alot of normal multitasking with, a gtx 1070 and a asus Z170 pro gaming mb with 16gb 2133mhz rant i run 100% stabel at 2666mhz

I could get a use i7 but most come with a whole computer or ryzen

Ryzen 5 1600 oc it to 3.9 or 4.0 ghz on all cores, i need a mb with 3 fan header and of course one for my cpu cooler, could be a msi B350 pc mate although i prefer asus or msi tomahawk artic (cheaper than the non tomahawk artic) or just buy a new i7 7700 and run it at turbo speed on all cores (4.2ghz) 24/7 (It's cheaper than a i7 6700,6700k and 7700k)

What would you recommend me to buy?

I think you want a better CPU because you know you messed up by not keeping your 4790K. If you absolutely must then get a Core i7 7700K. It will work in your motherboard with BIOS version 3016 or newer. If you can't get the Core i7 7700K because you're strapped for cash then just keep your 6600K. Honestly it's not going to make that much difference that it's really going to be worth it. Yeah you might get slightly better mins and maxes but it's not going to mean jack to your actual experience playing the game. I've played Battlefield 1 on my Core i7 with half of the cores disabled to simulate an i3. If I remember correctly it stayed above 60 fps the entire time even though the CPU maxed out. Just because the CPU maxes out in a game...

sounds like you just want change for the sake of change. I still have no intention of upgrading my ivy bridge i5 anytime soon, there's still nothing it can't handle. The i7 might be a bit better for some online games, but isn't going to make a difference for single player. Ryzen would be a downgrade purely from a gaming perspective.

I play in 3440x1440 100hz, i only play in 60 fps in need for speed hot persuite because it's locked at 60fps.

I have heard an i5 6600k at 4.5ghz is maxed out in Ghost Recon Wildlands and Watch Dogs 2 with a gtx 1070.(don't know in what resolution it is)


You can get an 8 core cpu for the same price as a i7 4 core cpu and 6 cores for less,4 cores, 4 threads is gonna be more outdated, less interesting for future games,multitasking,gaming and streaming, since ryzen was launched with it's reasonable priced 4/8 6/12 core cpu's

Ghz differnce should make a difference in games https://www.ocaholic.ch/modules/smartsection/item.php?itemid=3948&page=4 (i do how ever feel theres something wrong about how they test the fps, since it's almost the same,identically and it shouldn't be between a stock i5 and a i7 at 4.5ghz, mabye the gpu gtx 980ti is limiting the fps that the i7 can achieve over the i5)
