I've been seeking for a way to move my Windows 10 onto an SSD and I have a couple questions I'd like to ask.

1) If there's no possible way of copying just the OS to an SSD without deleting any of my programs on my HDD for free, can I just delete everything off of my HDD and just reuse my Windows 10 key and install it onto my SSD?

2) Is there any free software that I can use to copy my Windows 10 over to my SSD?

A thorough explanation would be very nice. :bounce:

1. What size is the new SSD?
2. How much total used space is consumed on the current HDD?

2. How much total used space is consumed on the current HDD?

If 1 is larger than 2, then this:
-----------------------------
Verify the actual used space on the current drive is significantly below the size of the new SSD
Download and install Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration, if a Samsung SSD)
Power off
Disconnect ALL drives except the current C and the new SSD
Power up
Run the Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration)
Select ALL the partitions on the existing C drive
Click the 'Clone' button
Wait until it is done
When it finishes, power off
Disconnect ALL drives except for the new SSD
Swap the SATA cables around so that the new drive is connected to the same SATA port as the old drive
Power up, and verify the BIOS boot order
If good, continue the power up

It should boot from the new drive, just like the old drive.
Maybe reboot a time or two, just to make sure.

If it works, and it should, all is good.

Later, reconnect the old drive and wipe as necessary.
Delete the original boot partitions, here:

-----------------------------

If 2 is larger than 1, then you can indeed reinstall the OS on this new SSD.
Obtain and create your bootable DVD or USB here:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

This will, of course, require reinstallation of all your drivers, applications, etc.
