So i have a i7 4790k processor and the temperatures are really high. Even while idle.
It's around 65c-75c while idle and goes to about 50c if i leave the computer alone for about 10 minutes. When gaming, it goes to 90c-100c. Does it for every single game. I thought it was my intel stock cooler so i bought a Cryorig H7 and it's still the same even with it.

I don't believe that the processor is overclocked. Is there anyway i can check?

I'm not sure what to do anymore. Is my processor dying? I'm thinking about just buying a new one.

Have you properly applied thermal compound?

If you didn't apply any, there will not be sufficient contact between the cooler and the CPU, leading to air gaps that will prevent your CPU from transferring heat to the heatsink efficiently.

If you applied too much compound, this will have an insulating effect, trapping heat more so than aiding the transfer of heat.

The general rule of thumb is "a pea-sized" amount, though not actually the size of a pea because that would be WAY too much.

How long ago did you notice the problem? Before you do anything else, check the exhaust of your CPU cooler in your adequately ventilated case for your own piece of mind & to know right off the bat; does it feel more like a gpu at load rather than a cpu?

Try another app for temp monitoring to see if the results are different. When you go into your bios does it give a different result and if so higher (most likely), or lower? For Intel processors, real temp has been recommended by many. Check your motherboard's overclocking settings in the bios and/or software in re to whether its OC'd & made sure your cpu is getting the correct voltage, and/or do the same if there's another OC app installed.

If you're using or updated to Win10, check to make sure your motherboard's bios is updated for it as well.

if your 4790K is on a z87 or z97 board it will turbo mode automatically so it can run up to 4.520 get HWINFO software it will far better details on what is going on inside your cpu/motherboard. temps... can you post a result ie load pc load hwinfo leave it running launch a game play for 5 mins, then close game it will tell you your high temps, utilization ect.... also what motherboard do you have ?
