Hello,

I was just wondering if it's okay to do this or not.
My rubber cover of USB Stick which covers up the whole electronic base of the USB stick is completely torn up and unusable, so i threw it in the trash and duct taped my whole USB stick because i don't like the idea of it being completely naked like that without any cover so that the dust will get in it and ect.

So is it ok to do it like that? It works completely fine but i am afraid that something might happen to it after excessive use. I don't know if the duct tape is conductive or not but i don' think it's just a regular duct tape but the name of it is: TESA Yellow duct tape and it's not super sticky as the regular duct tape you buy from stores.

Thank you,

It will work fine, JUST never take the duct tape off. No matter how tattered it gets, put new tape over it. Ironically, you could've just done that to the old cover. Problem with removing it is the likelihood it pulls a chip off. If that happens, unless you have a sodering iron and microscope, plus very steady hands, your USB is dead.
