Would like a faster internet speed

Hi, I live in the UK and am not eligible for Fibre Broadband...
My router is a Netgear D6200 which is great but my room is on the top floor of the house and it is on the ground floor in the entrance hallway.
I am currently using an Asus PCE-N15 11n Wireless card in my Gaming pc as then I don't have to run cables or use a Booster. On Ookla speed test this is my result : http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/6221960710

I would like a faster download and upload speed as it takes days to install games.
so...
Would I be better off buying a new, fast wifi card for my PC (if so what one would you recommend)
Or would I be better off buying a wifi booster and connecting that to my pc via Ethernet (if so what booster should I get)
I don't know If my current wifi card has an Ethernet port but I think my motherboard does... will that suffice?

All answers are much appreciated, Ajsski99

What speeds do you pay for from your ISP? If you don't know try running speedtest on a pc with a wired internet connection. It would be pointless to upgrade anything if you are already getting the best speeds your internet can provide. Its unlikely a new wifi card will do anything for you unless its not getting a strong enough signal from your router, or you have very fast internet with an AC router and you needed a wireless card that supports AC which it does not look like you have.

Some users like yourself think once you have ethernet, things magically speed up. NO. You are still limited by the lowest transfer rate of the weakest link. If there is WIFI ANYWHERE from you to the ISP modem, regardless of whether you have an ethernet connection in the middle, you are will still be limited by the slowest speed of the link, which is usually WIFI.

Then Dunlop0078 has a critical question. What are you currently paying for? If u don't know this, maybe the ISP is shooting you 2 mbit and no matter what you do to your WIFI or ethernet, nothing is gonna up your speed beyond 2 mbit until you pay ISP more, assuming they have the bandwidth to sell you.

But assuming your ISP is sending you stuff quickly enough, and you are really being limited by your LAN (LAN=what goes on inside your house) then the only way to speed things up is to shorten the distance between your PC and the WIFI router, or go totally WIRED which you say you can't do, and then we are stuck.
