Hello !

I have read a lot on this forum, but I want to make sure I get this right before committing a mistake.

My motherboard (X58 Pegatron Truckee) have 6 slots for the RAM.
3 of them are blue, 3 of them are black. As I understand this, my motherboard is working on triple channel.

Now I already have 3x 2GB DDR3 PC3-10700 667MHz that are on the blue slots (1-3-5).

A friend of mine gave me 2x 4GB DDR3 1600MHz.
If I put those two on slots 2 and 4, how will my motherboard process this RAM ?

Will I have 14GB working at 667MHz ?

Here is a screenshot of CPU-Z with my memory informations.

Thank you in advance for your answers ! Help would be greatly appreciated :)

currently your ram is running at 1066mhz.
The kit is rated for 1333mhz.
So your ram is already running slower than it should.
I suspect adding any different sized ram kits will make them all run in single channel mode, if they run.
You should be able to set them all to run at 1333mhz at least in the BIOS.

Hello
Thank you for your answers.

I will try to set my ram to run at 1333mhz first. I will then add the new ram and just see where this is going.

Maybe I will remove one of the 2Gb already installed so I can have 12Gb running on dual. I actually don't know what is the best option :p

Will tell you how it goes.

You could test with the free/trial version of Aida64.

You do that.:)

Well, I can't change the ram speed values in the BIOS. I have searched in all the menus there but there is no option to change.

I guess I'm screwed :)

I have AMI 5.22 from 10/12/2009.

Anyway, I just found someone whos getting rid for 30$ of the exact same 3x2GB RAM that I have. I am just going to put those with the other 3 and I'll have 12GB running in triple. I think :p.

However, I have no solution to change my RAM speeds...

Thank you for your answers :)

This is an old computer, so it's normal. For now I'm ok with, I'll just sell it when his time will come ;)

Have a great one
