My mom's pc is very very slow and randomly shuts down without a warning. Her specs are: motherboard - intel h55e processor - intel i5 760
Ram - kingston 2x 2GB videocard - amd radeon hd 5450
Since a few weeks ago the pc is terribly slow, it takes 3x as long to boot and it randomly shuts down.
Even the bios crashes.
I tried setting bios to default, moving the jumper from left to right and back. The error was still there it didn't even boot. When I completely remove the jumper the pc starts but still shuts down after a few minutes.
Please help me fix this, if you need info feel free to ask.
Thanks in advance!

The reason your PC is so slow is because it is extremely outdated. Your CPU is ancient, and 2gb of ram is nothing in 2017. There is not much advice to give here apart from upgrade.

it has 4gb of ram and it isn't used for anything it shouldn't handle the problems only showed up a week ago it worked fine for what it did before that. She isn't planning on upgrading anytime soon so a suggestin would be nice.

Here is what you can do if you have a slow computer:

1- Uninstall unused programmes (Control Panel->Underneath programmes->Uninstall a program)
2- Install a solid state drive (SSD) .. make sure it fits in your computer before buying
3- Update windows
4- Reboot the PC if there are no necessary files. If there is copy them in a USB and reboot it later.

Hope this helps.

Considering its that old, the drives probably use a slave/master interface which is not compatible with any SATA drives

Yeah you're right , considering its an old computer it wont handle to run any programmes that were designed to run efficiently on a newer computers. Best option would be wiping the computer.

If you're really trying to speed up the computer, wipe the entire drive. If you REALLY need the files get an external drive and copy everything there first. You could even put a really really cheap ssd in if you wanted to. Also make sure it's clean inside. If you can, reapply thermal paste and the other usual maintenance things.
