Hi!
my name is Marc, and i'm 15 years of age. Happy Easter by the way!

I've asked on here which graphics card i should purchase for a high spec flight sim setup.
i have been suggested the following: GTX 1060 3GB and the 6GB edition, I would like to know which is the best performing card and what brand is the best also. I'm 15 and earn my own money, so i have a budget of around £200 or $250 but i am willing to pay the extra 10's for the 6gb if it's the best

I am open to any suggestions you may have are all are greatly appreciated.
best regards
Marc. :)

like with the older 960 cards and the 2 gb and 4 gb so few choose the 2gb cards they were going to stop making them

you may not need that full 6gb all the time but if you did need it you got it covered for the small price difference go with the better 6gb . like said above sometime your pocketbook may not allow you to do things

still looks like a good price gap between them 6gb and 3 gb cards was only like 20 bucks at the time with the 960's for that little diff better off going with the 4gb on them

[opinion] - those who know NVidia , know evga

good luck

if you want to see the 6gb or the 3 gb cards i'll use my cpu and lets look at some of this

1060 6gb firestrike 1080p...

I think the 6GB is better, but it really depends on the price. I have looked through Amazon.co.uk and I've found this EVGA GTX 1060 6GB:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/EVGA-GeForce-Superclocked-Express-Graphics/dp/B01IOWT538/ref=sr_1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1492356531&sr=1-2&keywords=gtx+1060+6gb

The price is close to a 3GB card. Or, if you want to also do some nice overclocking, get the MSI GTX 1060 6GB:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Gigabyte-Nvidia-1060-GDDR5-PCI-E/dp/B01K7I7M00/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1492356618&sr=1-1&keywords=gtx+1060+6gb

I wouldn't recommend buying a 6GB version that is over £250.

so with my non k 4670 seems the 6gb card can have a slight advantage

Assuming your CPU is good, you have enough system ram, and you have the power supply for these cards, I'd choose the 470 if price was a priority. You'll get good 1080p performance at the lowest cost. If performance was the priority, I'd get the 1060 6gb. In my view the 1060 3gb and 480 4gb are sort of in a middle ground of not being low cost enough to be the best at price/performance but also not fast enough to be the best in performance alone.

One intangible- the flight simulator software you will use. If it runs better on Nvidia or AMD, that would be a good reason to buy that type of card.

MERGED QUESTION
Question from marcrg24 : "FSX: Best Graphics card GTX 3gb vs 6gb vs RX 470 vs RX480"

Hello all! Happy Easter! my name is Marc, i am 15 years of age. i, like many of you, have a passion for flight and simulation, i would like to upgrade my graphics card, and i would like to know which is best for fsx:

Geforce GTX 1060 3gb, - a link here https://www.amazon.co.uk/Gigabyte-Nvidia-1060-GDDR5-PCI-E/dp/B01KHWOAR4/ref=sr_1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1492258988&sr=1-2&keywords=gtx+1060
Geforce GTX 1060 6GB - a link here https://www.amazon.co.uk/EVGA-GeForce-Superclocked-Express-Graphics/dp/B01IOWT538/ref=sr_1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1492356531&sr=1-2&keywords=gtx+1060+6gb
RX 470
RX480

out of these, which gives the best possible specs/setting for an almost maxed out flight sim or a very high spec flight sim. money isnt an issue, although i do earn my own money, so i do have a max budget of £250 or $313.
Whatever responses i may get will help me make my final decision.

Here are my current specs (not great but hey ho!): Motherboard: Asrock FM2A68M-HD+
integrated graphics chipset: AMD Radeon R7 Graphics with a memory size of 1gb and memory type of DDR3, 8gb of ram and the cpu type is AMD A8-7650k Radeon R7, 10 compute cores 4C+6G (quad core processor)

I am open to any suggestions you may have are all are greatly appreciated.
best regards
Marc. :)
