I never used any kind of wrist strap. Just touch metal every now and then, such as the computer case. You just don't want to build up static electricity. So don't wear socks or fuzzy slippers while working on your computer, don't drag your feet on the carpet when you walk.

As far as building, just remember that all this stuff is designed to work together, so don't force anything. Some stuff, like the memory sticks, do take a bit of pressure to install. That's okay. I'm talking about bending things, or really putting all your strength into pushing something into place, it shouldn't be necessary. If you find you have to force something, take a break and re-examine what you're doing. You're probably installing something wrong.

u dont need a wrist strap. just try not to build on carpet and if you are prone to static discharge just touch the metal on the case before handling components. as for the build... dont forget thermal paste, make sure everything is plugged in an secure, try to keep cable management in mind, and as mentioned dont force anything. also keep the hdd data cable unplugged until after you have windows installed. then plug it in and optimize the drive.

once youre up and running with windows installed, update windows, then go to you mobo manufacturers site and go to the page for your board, and under downloads, download and install the INF driver, intel management engine driver, and optionally the intel rapid storage driver(might make your system boot a little faster) and the audio driver.(depending on the sound board this can cause some issues for some people, but it should be fine. but if you choose not do youll still get sound and the same quality, just wont have certain features.) youll also might need to install your network or LAN driver. youll know by whether or not you can get online, if not youll need to install it from the cd that came with your mobo before you can do get online. or you can downlaod it from the site onto a flash drive a head of time. you can actually do that with all the drivers if you want to.

youll also need to go to nvidas site and download and install the latest drivers for the 1070. those are only thing youll need to bother updating regularly. just check occasionally to see if new drivers are available, particularity when a new game you want to play has just been released, as thats usually when video drivers will make a difference.

So what you mean by "keep the hdd data cable unplugged until after you have windows installed. then plug it in and optimize the drive." is that I should only plug in my ssd cable, install my os on that, plug in my hdd and then optimize the hdd?
