I am upgrading my computer to the new Ryzen platform, which includes reinstalling my OS. I currently have 2 drives a 256GB SSD (OS) and a 1Tb Data Drive. When I reinstall my Operating System, 1. Will windows 10 activate once I put in my Microsoft Account. And 2. will I need to do anything special for windows to recognize my 1Tb drive since i wont be wiping it. And I guess 3. will my 1Tb Drive cause any problems since it isn't getting wiped?

Solution

For the OS:
Assuming you have correctly linked your current license to aa Microsoft account, it should allow activation with the new hardware.
Procedures here:

For the 1TB HDD:
You probably should not have to do anything special
What is on this drive? Any applications on this drive will not be recognized with the new OS.

Depends on what hardware you're changing. Microsoft uses a "mystery mix" of your computer's components to judge whether it is still basically the same computer. If you get thumbs up, it will automatically activate; thumbs down, you may have to make the phone call to Microsoft. In either case, you should be good to go.

All of My user Files will be on it like Music, Documents, photos etc. Along with my larger steam games, and save files from other games. Right now i have the Os recognizing the user files as being on the Hdd, that is the only thing that would really cause an issue i can think of. And Yes My Microsoft account is linked to my current license.
