Belkin network adapter not working

I bought the N300 belkin network adapter and did what it told me to do, download some setup .exe file and it should work but it didnt, i tried going into the adapter settings and enabling it and that did nothing, so i tried changing any of the propertie settings. The TCP and IPv4 settings that did nothing as well so i uninstalled everything and reinstalled, after everything was finished i looked to see if it was working and the damn adapter wouldnt even light up after that!I checked all my usb ports and plugged diffrent usb's in them and they worked fine except the adapter itself

Well the thing is that the adapter was apposed to plug into my computer so i can connect to my router ive had another network adapter hooked up in one of my usb ports but it broke so i bought this one, the only workaround i have right now is hooking up a Ethernet cord to my laptop and share the connections so i can get wifi on my pc.
