Modern Gaming System - CPU/GPU Combo

Would you consider this a modern gaming PC capable of playing the latest games at 1080p? (eg. Battlefield 1, Ghost Recon Wildlands, Mass Effect Andromeda, etc..)

Core i5-2500
ASUS Strix RX 470 4GB OC
8GB DDR3 1600 CL9
Intel DZ77SL-50K Z77 mobo
Kingston HyperX 240GB SSD
2TB 7,200RPM HDD
EVGA 500B

I turned my main rig in to a mining rig and basically had everything else laying around not being used except the CPU($47.67 on Ebay) and mobo($40 from a friend), with the exception of the GPU, which is currently in my mining rig that I will borrow from. Waiting on the CPU to arrive so I can get it up and running, expecting to use it as my main gaming system for a few months. I would have liked to get the 2500K, but it was roughly $32 more.

I have 2 MSI RX 480 4GB (reference) cards I could use one of those, but I figured with the i5-2500 the RX 470 would be good enough. Just wanting some feedback I suppose.

*My main rig used to be an i7-4790K + GTX 1060 6GB, but no longer own those parts.

it will play those games, but not near maxed. at least in more demanding games, considering even a 1080 dips below 60fps in more demanding games when maxed out.

id throw the 480 in there. its about on par with a 390(sometimes a little better), which i have, and while i cant simply max everything out its still a capable card and will deliver a solid gaming experience.

I suppose I can try the RX 480. I was thinking the RX 470 would have a more consistent framerate than the RX 480 because of CPU bottleneck. I will have to test them both, record some gameplay to see for myself :) Should be easy to swap them out without changing drivers.

*Btw it's been about 30 days since I've played anything but Minecraft here and there, so I'm just hoping to get some enjoyable game time on this system. :)

Okay so I got the CPU and motherboard yesterday and after satisfyingly running Cinebench R15 and Firestrike, I was able to play a few minutes of Battlefield 1. I used the RX 470 and at first, I was impressed to see 80fps on Ultra settings at 1080p. But shortly thereafter, I found out that the CPU simply cannot keep up. Framerate regularly dipped in to the 40s and as low as the mid 30s. Low-Ultra settings were all the same performance, so I think it's a CPU bottleneck. Framerate ranged from 35-80fps during the 15 minutes that I played on 64-player online/multiplayer mode Ultra settings. Reminded me of my previously owned i3-4160 + GTX 1060 playing Battlefield 1. I thought the i5-2500 would do better.

Maybe other games won't have as large of dips. Also, I will try using v-sync and maybe creating a custom resolution with a lower refresh rate to try and stabilize the framerate. Is this a good idea in a situation where there is a CPU bottleneck?
