Hello everybody ,
Recently I have seen at a lot of places on the internet where the AMD RX 480 is really closing on the GTX 1060 in DX11 and taking the lead in DX 12
So is the AMD GPU really beating the GTX 1060 and hence should I it over the GTX 1060 ?

I watched this video and now I am confused

In my opinion the RX 480 might be the better option for the reasons above but remember no one can say for certain that the driver improvements will continue and whether or not 8GB VRAM will become viable, etc. But i would indeed assume the RX 480 to be the better card in over a years time. But either way the RX 580 will probably be your best option once it comes out sometime this week apparently. Read more here > https://wccftech.com/amd-radeon-rx-580-570-560-550-launch-18-april/.
Are you talking about the full 1060 6GB (not the cut down 3GB model) and the full RX 480 8GB? I didn't watch the video, but I have read a lot of articles and reviews as I am sort of in the same boat. 1060 vs 480? I figured it out the other day though. Both cards are back and forth and neck and neck, so I went with the one that can speed up my creative apps and thats Nvidia with CUDA. Problem solved. You may not care about that though, so I can just say that you would be happy with either one. They are on a level playing field in most cases. Or get which ever comes in at a better price.

They are pretty close. Either is better for an individual depending on some variables i'll list below. What games you play is also important when choosing.

GTX 1060 6GB:

- Lower Power Usage
- Generally Lower Temps (Better cooled)
- Better Performance in most Nvidia GameWorks titles, DirectX 11 and OpenGL games.
- Mostly the stronger card at the moment on average
- Excellent Overclocker (If that interests you)

RX 480 8GB:

- Slightly cheaper (Most the time)
- 2GB of more VRAM
- Better Performance in most AMD Gaming Evolved titles, DirectX 12 and Vulkan games
- CrossFire (Mulit-GPU) compatible (If you would consider this)
- Appears to be getting stronger over time thanks to driver optimisations and patching, this will likely make the card a better long term choice, See here > http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardware-canucks-r...

To summarise, the GTX 1060 6GB often comes ahead in most games today and with lower power usage + temps at that. However many things on the RX 480 would indicate it to be better card in the long run due to the extra VRAM, better driver support, better performance in newer APIs (Vulkan and DX12) and of course the ability to add another RX 480 in CrossFire (you might see one cheap). Just a final note, the RX 500 series isn't far away so i recommend you consider waiting for that to drop before making a decision. Just go for whichever card has features that appeal more to you and your build. Hope this helps :)

So if I plan on using my GPU for the next two years which will be the best bet for me ?
The GTX 1060 or AMD RX 480?
Yeah I will definitely wait for the new RX 500 series and see how it turns out
