As long as they have a compatible connector. Sata versions are backwards compatible so it should not be an issue.

Yes you can use it, you just can't use the OS installation that may be on it since you're moving it to different hardware.

Also run a quick check of the status of your hard drive while you build a new one...4/5 years can be already the end of a drive....run a quick crystal disk info to see where you are at....

People asking this question often mean move HD with OS and boot OS on new machine and BAM! saved me to have to buy a new OS.... NOPE, Microsoft won't let you do it like that brother.
